Position: Baker Act Coordinator

Location: North Port Behavioral Health, North Port, FL (opening February 2025)

The Baker Act Coordinator will oversee the hospital’s Baker Act program, ensuring compliance with all legal and operational standards.

Essential Functions:
  • Design, develop, and implement policies, procedures, and forms in accordance with regulatory requirements.
  • Safeguard patient rights by reviewing admissions documents, charts, and progress notes, ensuring staff adherence to regulations.
  • Maintain communication with the State’s Attorney, Public Defender, Courts, and other involved parties.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with service providers, agencies, hospitals, and law enforcement.
  • Provide ongoing training to staff on regulatory compliance, including BA compliance, chart documentation, and patient support.
  • Participate in clinical record reviews with Intake, Admissions, Nursing, and Clinical Services.
  • Ensure timely submission of court documents, attend court hearings, and facilitate communication among all parties involved.
Minimum Requirements:
  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • At least three years of experience as a BAC or equivalent.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of the Baker Act.
