Job summary

Hollywood Casino St. Louis is hiring a Baker to produce and decorate baked goods for on-site outlets. You will follow recipes, measure ingredients, and ensure quality by maintaining consistency across products.

Applicants must be 18+, able to work any shift, pass a background check, and read/write/speak English. The role offers a fast-paced environment with opportunities to grow in a large entertainment venue.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 18 years old.
• Knowledge of kitchen sanitation, operation, and maintenance of kitchen/bakery equipment.
• Ability to work any day of the week and any shift, including holidays and weekends.
• Must pass background check.
• Must be able to stand for prolonged periods.
• Must read, write, speak, and understand English.

Responsibilities

• Produce and decorate all baked goods for property outlets.
• Follow established recipes by weighing, mixing, proofing, baking, finishing baked products.
• Produce pastries, cakes, pies, breads, cookies to set standards.
• Troubleshoot to ensure consistent product quality.
• Prepare pans, load/unload ovens, and operate bakery equipment.
• Maintain clean, sanitary workstation and rotate stock.

As a Baker , you will:

Pay: $18.00 per hour | Start Time Varies Between: 6:00 am - 8:00 am

• Responsible for the production and decorating of all baked and finished goods for property outlets.
• Follows standard, established recipes by weighing, mixing, proofing, baking and finishing baked products.
• Ability to produce individual pastries, cake, pies, plated desserts, breads, cookies, pies, etc. and to decorate by set standards set forth by the company.
• Ability to mix, form and bake formulas accurately so that a consistent product is made each and every time and to trouble shoot when item is not correct.
• Ability to follow an order form and forecast the necessary ingredients needed for the following day.
• Prepares pans for the baking process while loading and unloading ovens.
• Able to operate the following: scale, upright mixer, steam kettle, stove, sheeter, glaze machine, confectionary machines, heat lamps, deep fryers, broiler, basic hand tools, etc.
• Ability to oversee a workstation based on par levels, occupancy, and reservations within food outlets while maintaining quality.
• Maintains and rotates dated food stock for quality assurance.
• Able to provide relief for Sous Chefs while providing assistants in all kitchen areas and other duties as assigned.
• Maintains assigned station in a clean and sanitary condition in accordance with department service standards and job functions.
• Recognizes and corrects any product discrepancies and variations in quality, standards and specifications.

• Must be able to work any day of the week and any shift, including holidays and weekends.
• Must pass background check.
• Must be able to bend, twist, turn, push, and pull a minimum of 100 lbs. in a cart.
• Must be able to reach above and below the shoulder while carrying a minimum of 50 ibs.
• Knowledge of proper pastry bag, cake decorating skills, piping techniques, and knife and spatula techniques.
• Must be able to stand for prolonged periods of time and/or entire shift.
• Flexibility in fingers and hands to utilize kitchen/bakery equipment, bottles/glasses/knives/etc.
• Must be able to read, write, speak, and understand English.
• Familiar with all phases and operations of the Bakery and able to have a sense of urgency and react to changing business demands.
