Job summary

Fama is seeking a senior domain expert in background screening for a part-time contract engagement. You will guide product managers, challenge assumptions, and bring an operator's perspective without owning the roadmap or backlog. Remote U.S.

based, 1099 contractor with 10–15 hours/week and a target monthly compensation of $6,000–$9,000. Ideal candidates bring hands-on operations experience across screening workflows, regulatory awareness (FCRA), and the economics of the process.

Qualifications

• Significant experience in the background screening industry with workflows, vocabulary, and economics second nature.
• Experience owning or managing components of case fulfillment, review, escalation, or disputes.
• Close experience with screening operations at a consumer reporting agency, screening tech vendor, ATS with screening integration, or large employer.
• Practical knowledge of regulatory landscape, especially FCRA as it relates to workflow.
• Structured thinking to break down complex operations into critical parts.
• Grounded perspective on AI product design with a critical mindset.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with product managers to shape new product initiatives and provide candid feedback.
• Offer an operator's viewpoint on screening processes, highlighting manual effort, delays, and costs.
• Identify compliance and workflow constraints for any design.
• Review requirements, specs, and prototypes as the industry expert.
• Explain how screening firms and customers evaluate and purchase new technology.
