Job summary

Pye-Barker Fire & Safety, LLC is seeking a Backflow Technician to perform annual testing, hazard evaluations, and repairs on residential and commercial water systems. The role emphasizes independent work, compliance with NFPA standards, and timely documentation to local water authorities.

The ideal candidate will have a BAPT license, 3+ years in the fire and life safety industry, and a clean driving record.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• BAPT license is required.
• 3+ years of experience in the fire and life safety industry as an apprentice or technician.
• NICET Level I or above preferred.
• Strong understanding of backflow systems.
• Clean driving record and active driver’s license (if driving is required).

Responsibilities

• Independently perform testing on backflow assemblies (RP, RPDA, DC, DCDA, PVB, SVB) using calibrated differential gauges.
• Diagnose assembly failures, replace internal components like rubber seals or springs, and rebuild failing units.
• Use hand tools and testing equipment to complete assigned tasks.
• Submit digital Test and Maintenance Reports (TMR) to local water authorities within required timeframes.
• Ensure compliance with NFPA standards and local codes.
• Communicate effectively with customers and internal team members.
