Job summary

Pye-Barker Fire & Safety in Reno is hiring a Backflow Inspector responsible for testing building backflow devices, recording results, and generating Backflow Inspection Reports and Certificates. You will assist the Lead Inspector and Inspection Manager with data collection and paperwork.

The role requires 1-3 years in fire and life safety, a valid AWWA-NV certification, and proficiency with test equipment, Outlook, Word and Excel. Travel to job sites and lifting up to 50 pounds are expected.

Qualifications

• College Degree preferred; a HS diploma acceptable with experience.
• Must possess and maintain a valid AWWA-NV Water Use Efficiency Practitioner certification on hire.
• 1–3 years of experience in the fire and life safety industry as a Backflow Inspector.
• Study NFPA standards for inspection and testing of fire protection systems; obtain NICET certifications.
• Proficiency with test equipment and Palm device.
• Proficiency with Outlook, Word, Excel; Palm OS usage.
• Reliable transportation to and from office or job site.

Responsibilities

• Ensure inspections are completed timely and accurately.
• Test building backflow panels and devices; enter results into Palm handheld device.
• Download data and generate Backflow Inspection Reports after inspections.
• Participate in monthly team meetings.
• Perform other duties assigned by management.
