Job summary

Pye-Barker Fire & Safety is seeking a Backflow Inspector in Reno, NV to perform building backflow inspections, tests, and report generation. You will support the Lead Inspector and Inspection Manager by collecting data and preparing Backflow Inspection Reports and Certificates.

Requirements include 1–3 years in the fire and life safety field, AWWA NV Water Use Efficiency Practitioner certification, NFPA knowledge, and proficiency with Outlook, Word, Excel, and Palm handheld devices.

Qualifications

• College degree is preferred; however, a High School diploma or equivalent is acceptable with acceptable experience.
• Must possess and maintain a valid AWWA- NV Water Use Efficiency Practitioner certification upon hire.
• 1 - 3 years of experience in the fire and life safety industry as a Backflow Inspector.
• Study and learn NFPA standards for the inspection and testing of fire protection systems. Stay current with code requirements, and industry changes, and obtain NICET certifications
• Proficiency in using test equipment including sensitivity test equipment, multi-meters, battery analyzers, sound level meters, and communicating devices.
• Outlook, Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, and use of Palm unit operating systems.

Responsibilities

• Perform backflow inspections including testing devices and generating reports.
• Assist Lead Inspector or Inspection Manager in collecting data and paperwork (Backflow Inspection Reports, Quick Reports, and Inspection Certificates).
• Ensure inspections are completed timely and accurately.
• Download inspection data and generate completed Backflow Inspection Reports.
• Participate in monthly team meetings and other duties assigned by management.
