Job summary

Pacific Northwest National Laboratory seeks a Software Engineer I to design, develop, and maintain software systems for the EMSL Science Central platform. You will implement RESTful APIs with Python and FastAPI, manage data with PostgreSQL, and apply RBAC across services in a Kubernetes environment.

You will collaborate with scientists and engineers, follow DevOps practices using GitLab CI/CD, and work with AI-assisted tools to accelerate development.

Qualifications

• BS/BA or higher in Bioinformatics.
• Experience with Linux, Docker, Kubernetes, and deployment environments.
• API development using Python and RESTful design.

Responsibilities

• Designs, develops, documents, tests, and debugs software systems per industry standards.
• Collaborate within a team to perform full system development lifecycle from requirements to deployment.
• Develop RESTful APIs using Python and FastAPI, build and maintain PostgreSQL databases, and implement RBAC across services.
