Job summary

Affirm, Inc. is seeking a Backend Engineer II, Batch Developer Experience to help build scalable backend systems. This role is remote in the US, with emphasis on batch workloads and reliability, partnering with product and infra teams to deliver fast, robust tooling.

You will design, develop, and operate backend services, contribute to shared batch tooling, and participate in code reviews and on-call rotations. A 1.5+ year track record and proficiency in Python or Kotlin are required.

Qualifications

• Experience designing, developing and launching backend systems using Python or Kotlin.
• Familiar with building blocks of distributed systems and cloud tooling.
• Strong code quality, testing, and extensibility expectations.
• Comfort navigating large codebases and conducting code reviews.

Responsibilities

• Break down large projects into tasks, deliver in phases, and coordinate for timely delivery.
• Collaborate with product, design, analytics to discuss constraints and trade-offs.
• Support operations by creating/monitoring metrics and participating in on-call duties.
• Contribute to team growth through participation in interview processes.
