Job summary

Plane builds a platform for work where humans and AI agents collaborate within a single system of action. We manage live state across thousands of workspaces and scale across cloud and self-hosted environments.

You will own backend surfaces end to end, extend real-time data paths, and improve performance while working with engineers in San Francisco and Hyderabad, shipping reliable systems for regulated environments.

Qualifications

• You have shipped Python to production and can discuss a decision you’d change now.
• You have worked in Django or a comparable framework with models, migrations, and a request cycle.
• You are comfortable with SQL and can read a query and add an index with rationale.
• You have written async Python in production traffic.
• You have debugged production incidents and what changed as a result.
• You write clearly and contribute to public issue threads.

Responsibilities

• Own backend surfaces end to end from API contract to rollout.
• Extend the real-time sync path with event streams and change data capture.
• Improve query performance as workspaces scale; read and adjust indexes.
• Instrument ship quality so issues show up on dashboards before customers report.
• Collaborate daily with product and frontend engineers across SF and Hyderabad.
• Debug issues in environments we don’t own or log into.
