Apaleo is transforming hospitality tech with an open, API-first platform. Join the Platform team to own substantial backend initiatives end to end, from analysis to delivery, in a highly autonomous role.

You will design scalable systems on AWS, manage Terraform-driven infrastructure, and drive architectural decisions across teams while advancing observability and reliability. A collaborative, ambitious, international team awaits you.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of backend development experience with ownership of significant work from ambiguity to completion.
• Hands-on ownership of infrastructure, reliability or performance, ideally on a platform/infrastructure team.
• Strong fundamentals across languages and cloud platforms; focus on thinking over specific stack.
• Experience designing and scaling distributed systems in cloud-native environments (AWS preferred; Azure acceptable).
• Containerised services and infrastructure-as-code (Docker, Terraform; CloudFormation exposure).
• Unit and integration testing; no dedicated QA function.
• Fluent English.
• Experience with C#/.NET, PostgreSQL, AWS and ECS or Kubernetes.
• Terraform usage from scratch, migration from CloudFormation.
• Experience with Kafka or other event-driven systems.
• Ownership of observability and logging for highly available systems.
• Hands-on use of AI-assisted development tools (Copilot, Cursor AI, ChatGPT, CodeWhisperer).
• Mentoring engineers and introducing AI tooling to teams.

Responsabilités

• Designing and building scalable, reliable backend systems.
• Spotting and scoping problems and initiatives yourself; weigh impact, priority and timing.
• Contributing to architectural decisions and design discussions; bring other teams along.
• Driving cross-cutting initiatives end to end, coordinating with stakeholders across engineering.
• Building and maintaining internal tools and infrastructure (AWS, Terraform).
• Owning observability, logging and operational excellence for high availability.
• Sharing knowledge through code reviews, design reviews and pairing.
• Spotting where AI and automation can improve how we build and run software.
• Solving horizontal write-scaling for our database.
• Modernising CI/CD; migrate infrastructure-as-code from CloudFormation to Terraform.
• Extracting and reworking common services for scale.
