Job summary

Cartesia is hiring a Software Engineer, Agents to build the backend platform behind Line, our voice agents product. You’ll own backend work end-to-end and directly shape latency, reliability, and the developer experience of every agent built on Cartesia.

You’ll design and implement distributed systems, operate load balancers, workers, and real-time media pipelines, and translate specs into robust production code.

Qualifications

• Experience building distributed backend systems in production.
• Strong focus on latency, reliability, and developer experience for platform work.
• Ability to explain architectural tradeoffs and design choices clearly.
• Fluent daily use of AI coding tools and staying current with the frontier.

Responsibilities

• Build and operate the distributed systems behind Cartesia’s voice agents: load balancing servers, workers, and real-time media pipelines.
• Take projects from spec to production: design, build, ship, monitor, iterate.
• Make architectural calls with clear tradeoffs on latency budgets and scaling primitives.
• Define the developer experience for engineers building on Cartesia: APIs, observability, and evaluations.
