Job summary

CVS Health is seeking a Backend Capability Product Specialist to own the backend platform, API ecosystem, and third‑party integrations for our SaaS product suite. You will align with engineering, business strategy, and market intelligence to drive scalable, interoperable systems powering internal capabilities and partner integrations.

The role emphasizes API governance, DX, and cross‑functional leadership with healthcare interoperability in mind.

Qualifications

At least 7 years of product management experience.
4+ years focused on backend systems, APIs, or platform products.
Proven track record delivering SaaS platform features at scale - ideally in a B2B or enterprise context.
Deep understanding of RESTful API design, webhooks, async messaging, and modern integration patterns.
Hands-on experience with API management platforms (e.g., Apigee, AWS API Gateway, Kong, MuleSoft).
Strong ability to build investment cases grounded in ROI modeling, market sizing, and competitive differentiation.

Responsibilities

Own the product roadmap for backend systems, APIs, and data platform capabilities.
Define API design standards, versioning strategies, and developer experience (DX) principles.
Drive the vision for a scalable, event-driven microservices architecture in collaboration with engineering leads.
Establish and govern API governance frameworks including authentication, rate limiting, and SLA commitments.
