Job summary

BCforward is seeking a Backend Java Developer to design and implement scalable Java-based services using Spring Boot, REST/SOAP APIs, and microservices. The hybrid Newark, DE role requires 3 onsite days per week, and involves Agile ceremonies, CI/CD, and production support.

A 12-month contract with a competitive pay rate is offered. The ideal candidate will have strong Java/Spring experience, REST/SOAP, messaging, and a track record of delivering secure, high-performing backend systems.

Qualifications

• Proven backend development experience with Java and Spring Boot.
• Experience building REST/SOAP services and messaging.
• Experience with CI/CD, TDD, and unit testing (JUnit).
• Experience with NoSQL (Cassandra) and at least one RDBMS (Oracle or SQL Server).
• Experience with Kafka or MQ messaging frameworks.
• 5+ years of relevant experience.

We are seeking a Backend Java Developer - Spring Boot / Microservices / API Integration to join our dynamic team. Position Summary

The Backend Java Developer is responsible for designing, developing, testing, and supporting scalable Java‑based applications and APIs. The role works closely with business stakeholders, architects, QA teams, and offshore developers to deliver high‑quality solutions while ensuring application reliability, performance, and security. The developer will operate within a cross‑functional Agile team to build and maintain enterprise‑grade backend services, REST APIs, and batch processing applications, participating in design discussions, sprint planning, code reviews, production support, and continuous improvement initiatives.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

• Proficiency in Java and Object‑Oriented Programming.
• Hands‑on experience with Spring ecosystem: Spring Framework, Spring Boot, ORM, MVC, Integration, Batch, and Services.
• Expertise in SOA, REST/SOAP web services, and JSON/XML.
• Exposure to cloud technologies and platforms.
• Experience with source control tools such as Bitbucket/Git or Subversion (SVN).
• Experience with Maven, Test‑Driven Development (TDD), Continuous Integration (CI), and JUnit.Experience with NoSQL databases, specifically Cassandra.
• Experience with at least one RDBMS: Oracle or SQL Server.
• Experience with Apache Kafka and MQ messaging frameworks.
• 5+ years of relevant experience.
