Job summary

Coinbase is seeking a backend-focused engineer to help power stablecoin-based money movement. You will design and build backend systems, APIs, and infrastructure that enable fast, secure, and scalable transfers across the Coinbase ecosystem.

You will collaborate with Product, Design, Infrastructure, and Compliance to balance speed, security and regulatory needs, and drive improvements in performance and reliability.

Qualifications

• 2+ years in software engineering for backend systems (fintech/payments/crypto).
• Experience designing distributed systems and APIs.
• Experience with or building on blockchain/crypto tech (stablecoins, on-chain payments, smart contracts).

Responsibilities

• Own key projects end-to-end as the Directly Responsible Individual, driving stablecoin-based money movement features from system design through production deployment.
• Build backend systems, infrastructure, and internal/external APIs for embedding stablecoin-powered payments.
• Collaborate with Product, Design, Infrastructure, and Compliance to balance speed, security, and regulatory needs.
• Improve performance, scalability, and reliability across distributed systems and address bottlenecks.
• Mentor quality through code reviews and architectural best practices.
