Job summary

IT Veterans seeks a Backend Software Engineer to design, develop, and maintain secure backend solutions for DoD-grade applications in Washington, DC. You will integrate Frontier AI models into secure DoD systems and build robust, scalable server-side services.

The role requires a strong background in backend development, cloud technologies, secure software engineering, and DevSecOps practices, with active TS/SCI clearance and experience in containerized, cloud-based environments.

Qualifications

• Active TS/SCI security clearance.
• Backend experience with Golang or Python.
• Experience with PostgreSQL or similar databases.
• Experience with Git and CI/CD pipelines.
• Knowledge of web app security and secure design.
• Experience deploying containerized apps with Kubernetes.
• Experience with cloud platforms (GCP, Azure, AWS).

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, test, and maintain secure backend components for modern web applications.
• Develop and maintain RESTful APIs enabling frontend-backend communication and multi-model integrations with Frontier AI platforms.
• Write clean, efficient, secure code following best practices and standards.
• Collaborate with product managers, designers, and other engineers to gather requirements and implement features.
• Participate in peer code reviews to maintain quality and best practices.
• Troubleshoot issues, resolve performance bottlenecks, and ensure reliability across classified and unclassified environments.
• Continuously evaluate emerging backend technologies and cloud services to support innovation.
