Job summary

Notability, based in downtown San Francisco, is seeking an early-career software engineer for its backend team. You will own core features across the backend, impact API requests, databases, and scalability, and ship readable, well-tested code to support learning tools used by students and educators worldwide.

You will communicate clearly, manage ambiguity, and work with mentors to continuously improve. This role offers hybrid work with two onsite days in SF and flexibility to work remotely

Qualifications

• Shipped real backend work, professionally or personally.
• Clear written and verbal communication; concise problem statements.
• Good judgment with ownership of outcomes over tasks.

Responsibilities

• Own core features across the backend system, from client interactions to DB queries and scalability.
• Ship stable, readable, well-tested code serving Notability's business.
• Communicate clearly and proactively in writing and conversation.
• Drive work to completion, navigate ambiguity, review feedback and edge cases.
• Tackle unfamiliar areas to solve tough problems.
• Collaborate with respect for teammates' ideas and time.
