Maplebear Inc. D/B/A the company in San Francisco, CA seeks Senior Software Engineer, Core Experience. This role designs, builds, and implements software to optimize and scale the core platform across web and mobile.

The engineer will lead development projects, analyze queries, and enable data-driven features while collaborating with cross-functional teams in a remote-friendly environment with Flex First design and competitive compensation.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, or related field (or foreign equivalent).
• 5 years of experience in the job offered or related.
• 5 years of experience with Java, Ruby, Python, or similar languages.
• 5 years with MySQL, PostgreSQL, NoSQL, or similar data systems.
• 5 years with API query technologies such as GraphQL.
• 2 years with machine learning model development and iteration.
• 2 years with client/server architectures and large codebases on cross-functional teams.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and implement software for the core platform and related technologies.
• Develop highly scalable software using solid CS/SE principles and roll out upgrades and features.
• Analyze and optimize expensive SQL queries for performance.
• Enable data-driven features that adapt to customer shopping behavior.
• Lead planning and execution of development projects from inception to maintenance.
• Create engaging shopping experiences across UI and backend systems.
