Job summary

Amazon Data Services, Inc. in Seattle, WA, USA is seeking a Software Engineer for the IVS Stream Management team to build and operate distributed live video infrastructure that supports millions of viewers globally.

You will own design and implementation for streaming services, collaborate with cross‑functional teams, and contribute to highly available, secure backend systems at AWS scale.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of non-internship professional software development experience
• 2+ years of design or architecture of new and existing systems experience
• Bachelor's degree or foreign equivalent in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or related field
• 5+ years of designing and developing large-scale software applications and services using languages like C#, C++, Java, or Perl

Responsibilities

• Own the technical direction of one or more services in the Stream Management portfolio; write design docs and drive implementation
• Work with engineers, product managers, and applied scientists to deliver seamless experiences
• Ensure backend systems are highly available, scalable, and secure at AWS scale
• Apply backend best practices including testing, performance optimization, observability, and maintainable code
• Collaborate with other AWS service teams to integrate shared services
• Participate in code reviews, architecture discussions, and on-call rotations
• Drive operational excellence through automation, metrics, alarms, and runbooks
• Lead post-incident investigations for high-severity events and drive actions to completion
