Job summary

SCI Solutions Global in Jersey City, NJ is seeking a Backend Engineer to design, develop, test, deploy, and support production-grade software using Java and/or Python in AWS cloud environments. The role focuses on APIs, microservices, and cloud-based backends, with Terraform for infrastructure automation and collaborative work with product, QA, SRE, and security teams.

The candidate will contribute to secure coding, automated testing, CI/CD, service design, and production incident resolution

Qualifications

Proficiency in Java and/or Python; strong software engineering fundamentals.

Responsibilities

Design, develop, test, deploy, and maintain production-grade backend applications using Java and/or Python.
Build and maintain APIs, microservices, and cloud-based backends on AWS.
Write secure, maintainable, high-quality code and participate in peer code reviews.
Troubleshoot application and infrastructure issues and implement permanent fixes.
Contribute to system design, service architecture, performance optimization, and reliability improvements.
Use Terraform or similar IaC tools to provision and manage cloud resources.
Develop and maintain automated tests and contribute to CI/CD improvements.
Work with relational and/or NoSQL databases, including data modeling and query optimization.
Apply secure coding practices, logging, monitoring, error handling, and resilience patterns.
Document technical decisions and collaborate with cross-functional engineering teams.
