About The Role

We are seeking a talented and experienced Backend Software Engineer to join our team and play a critical role in developing, scaling, and maintaining our SaaS-based business intelligence platform, Hummingbird PXM. This fully remote position involves working within a collaborative, agile environment to deliver client-facing features, shared tools, and robust backend services that support our expanding suite of products. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in Java and Spring Boot, with experience in designing scalable microservices and RESTful APIs. You will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams including frontend developers, QA engineers, product managers, and DevOps to ensure our systems are reliable, efficient, and aligned with business goals. Your contributions will be vital in enhancing system architecture, improving deployment pipelines, and ensuring high levels of system observability and performance across the platform.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of hands-on backend development experience in a SaaS environment
• Proficiency in Java and Spring Boot framework
• Experience designing and implementing microservices and REST APIs
• Familiarity with MongoDB and relational databases such as PostgreSQL or MySQL
• Strong understanding of backend system architecture and design patterns
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines, logging, monitoring, and system observability
• Knowledge of Agile methodologies, including Scrum practices
• Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills
• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, collaborative environment
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain scalable RESTful APIs and microservices using Java and Spring Boot
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams including frontend, QA, product, and DevOps to deliver high-quality features
• Write and maintain comprehensive unit and integration tests to ensure code reliability and performance
• Participate in code reviews, architecture discussions, and pair programming to uphold coding standards
• Implement best practices for backend development, including design patterns and version control workflows
• Ensure system observability through logging, monitoring, and proactive performance tuning
• Debug and resolve issues across all stages of the development lifecycle, including production environments
• Contribute to the continuous improvement of CI/CD pipelines and deployment processes
• Assist in roadmap planning, effort estimation, and architectural decision-making for multi-product platforms
• Identify opportunities for process enhancements and communicate ideas effectively within the team
