Expedia Group seeks a backend-leaning full-stack engineer to design, build, and operate high-throughput services powering insurance and fintech products across the Expedia platform. You will lead cross-team initiatives and develop scalable APIs and pricing engines for dynamic offerings.

The role emphasizes rapid iteration, reliability, and collaboration across pricing, checkout, and booking systems, with on-call rotation and a Seattle-based in-office requirement.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related technical field or equivalent experience.
• 3+ years of professional software engineering experience.
• Strong experience building backend services and APIs in distributed systems.
• Experience with system design for scalable, high-availability platforms.
• Proficiency in Kotlin or Java.
• Experience working in AWS.
• Familiarity with AI-assisted development workflows or AI/ML-enabled systems.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and operate high-throughput backend services powering insurance and fintech products across the Expedia platform.
• Lead and contribute to complex, cross-team initiatives requiring coordination across pricing, checkout, booking, servicing, etc.
• Develop scalable APIs, pricing engines, and data models for dynamic and synthetic product offerings.
• Contribute to zero-to-one product launches and rapid post-launch iterations across brands and markets.
• Write clean, maintainable, and testable code with focus on performance and reliability.
• Troubleshoot and resolve issues in distributed, high-scale systems.
• Leverage AI-assisted tools to accelerate development and delivery.
• Participate in on-call rotation ~quarterly.
