Expedia Group in Seattle, WA seeks a backend-leaning full-stack engineer (≈70% backend) to power insurance and fintech products across the Expedia platform. You will design, build, and operate high-throughput services and lead cross-team initiatives with a strong emphasis on performance and scalability.

The role requires 5+ years in software engineering, Kotlin/Java proficiency, cloud experience, and familiarity with AI-assisted workflows.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of professional software engineering experience.
• Strong experience building backend services and APIs in distributed systems.
• Proficiency in Kotlin or Java.
• Experience working in cloud-based environments.
• Familiarity with AI-assisted development workflows or AI/ML-enabled systems.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and operate high-throughput backend services that power insurance and fintech products across the Expedia platform.
• Lead and contribute to complex, cross-team initiatives that require coordination across dozens of systems (pricing, checkout, booking, servicing, etc.).
• Develop scalable APIs, pricing engines, and data models to support dynamic and synthetic product offerings.
• Contribute to zero-to-one product launches and rapidly iterate post-launch to expand capabilities across brands and markets.
• Write clean, maintainable, and testable code with a strong focus on performance, reliability, and scalability.
