Job summary

Affirm is a remote-first company reimagining credit and providing flexible, transparent pay-later options. You will join a team building backend systems powering the Affirm Card and related services, with emphasis on reliability, scalability, and security.

We seek engineers with 1.5+ years of backend experience in Python or Kotlin, and a strong grounding in distributed systems using AWS, MySQL, and Kubernetes.

Qualifications

• 1.5+ years of experience as a software engineer.
• Experience designing, developing and launching backend systems with Python or Kotlin.
• Familiar with distributed systems and technologies like AWS, MySQL and Kubernetes.
• Ability to translate complex problems into clean, well-tested, extensible code.
• Strong collaboration and code-review skills.

Responsibilities

• Break down large projects into deliverable tasks and drive them in phases.
• Collaborate with product, design and analytics to align on constraints and risks.
• Support operations and on-call activities, monitor metrics, and keep systems reliable.
• Contribute to team growth by participating in interview processes.
