Job summary

Affirm is seeking a Software Engineer for the Identity Decisioning team. You will design, implement and operate backend systems that validate consumer identity to comply with regulatory standards like KYC.

You will work with Product, Compliance, Auth, Fraud and other engineering teams to build reliable financial software core to Affirm’s services. The role emphasizes ownership, collaboration, and delivering in multiple phases while maintaining quality and on-call readiness.

Qualifications

• 1.5+ years of software engineering experience.
• Backend design, development and launch experience in Python or Kotlin.
• Familiarity with distributed systems and technologies (AWS, MySQL, Kubernetes).
• Ability to translate simple problems into multi-component solutions with clean, testable code.

Responsibilities

• Break down projects into tasks and deliver in phases with timely delivery.
• Collaborate with product, design and analytics to balance constraints and risk.
• Maintain and monitor team artifacts, escalate issues, participate in on-call efforts.
• Contribute to team growth through interview process participation and knowledge sharing.
