Job summary

Auria Space is seeking a Software Engineer to advance the CCS-C Sustainment and Resiliency (C-SAR) for satellite systems. You will work on backend services and integration frameworks in a DoD context from Colorado Springs, CO.

The role requires strong Java/C++/Python development in Linux, RESTful APIs, and secure data exchange. You will participate in Agile cycles, support DevSecOps practices, and contribute to scalable software architecture.

Qualifications

• Active U.S. Government SECRET security clearance.
• Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related technical discipline and 7+ years of relevant experience.
• Or a Master's degree and 4+ years of relevant experience.
• Strong development experience with Java, C++, and Python in Linux-based environments.
• Experience developing RESTful APIs, secure data exchange (JSON/XML), and SOA.
• Familiarity with build systems (Maven, Gradle, CMake) and version control tools (Git/GitHub).
• Proficient in backend testing methodologies and frameworks (JUnit, PyTest, Google Test).
• Experience with Scrum Master functions and facilitating team collaboration.
• Technical leadership experience and mentoring peers.
• Strong debugging skills with GDB, Valgrind, or performance profilers.
• Strong communication and collaboration within Agile teams.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office tools.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, test, and deploy backend services, APIs, and system components using Java, C++, and Python.
• Collaborate with frontend, systems, DevSecOps, and testers for high-quality integration.
• Develop components that interact with satellite ground systems and secure comms protocols.
• Optimize system performance via profiling, debugging, and structured code.
• Support secure coding practices and DoD cybersecurity compliance.
• Participate in Agile sprints, planning, standups, and retrospectives.
• Conduct peer reviews and contribute to architecture decisions on scalability.
