Job summary

Starfolk is seeking a backend engineer in San Francisco to join a team building cloud development environments. You will own projects from design through production, solving unfamiliar problems and shaping the product with direct user feedback.

You will build services that manage cloud environments, design APIs, and collaborate with engineers and coding agents to improve reliability, performance, and compute efficiency.

Qualifications

• Have built and operated backend systems used by real customers.
• Understand APIs, databases, concurrency, and how to investigate production failures.
• Can turn an incomplete brief into a useful first version and improve it with feedback.
• Make thoughtful engineering tradeoffs, communicate clearly, and learn unfamiliar technology quickly.
• Care about how your technical decisions affect the people using the product.

Responsibilities

• Build services that manage cloud environments, agent sessions, and scheduled work.
• Design APIs and data models for coordinating tasks and handing work between engineers and agents.
• Connect Starfolk with GitHub, Slack, and the coding tools teams already use.
• Make workflows resilient to failures, retries, and interrupted connections.
• Improve performance, reliability, debugging, and compute efficiency.
