About the Role

We’re looking for a backend engineer who enjoys solving unfamiliar problems and building software people depend on. You’ll shape the product, work directly with users, and own projects from the first design through production.

Responsibilities
  • Build services that manage cloud environments, agent sessions, and scheduled work.
  • Design APIs and data models for coordinating tasks and handing work between engineers and agents.
  • Connect Starfolk with GitHub, Slack, and the coding tools teams already use.
  • Make workflows resilient to failures, retries, and interrupted connections.
  • Improve performance, reliability, debugging, and compute efficiency.
Qualifications
  • Have built and operated backend systems used by real customers.
  • Understand APIs, databases, concurrency, and how to investigate production failures.
  • Can turn an incomplete brief into a useful first version and improve it with feedback.
  • Make thoughtful engineering tradeoffs, communicate clearly, and learn unfamiliar technology quickly.
  • Care about how your technical decisions affect the people using the product
Required Skills
  • Experience with developer tools, cloud infrastructure, containers, virtual machines, or coding agents is useful.
  • You don’t need every item above to apply; tell us what you’ve built and what you learned.
Equal Opportunity Statement

Starfolk welcomes applicants with different backgrounds, experiences, and perspectives. We evaluate candidates on their skills, judgment, and ability to contribute, without discrimination based on race, color, religion, national origin, sex, pregnancy, sexual orientation, gender identity, age, disability, genetic information, veteran status, or any other characteristic protected by applicable law.
