Job summary

Remitly, Inc. is seeking a Software Development Engineer II to design and build backend services that power the Remittance Transaction Engine. You will contribute to a modern API-first architecture and drive quality through testing, monitoring, and documentation.

You will work with product managers and partner teams to translate requirements into reliable technical solutions, leveraging AI tools to accelerate development while ensuring correctness and security.

Qualifications

• Degree in CS, engineering, or related field or equivalent experience.
• 3+ years of professional software development in production backend systems.
• Strong programming in Go, Kotlin, or similar languages with ability to learn new tech.
• Experience designing distributed systems on AWS and cloud platforms.

Responsibilities

• Design and build scalable backend services and APIs for transaction processing.
• Own features end-to-end from design to delivery with testing and documentation.
• Improve reliability, observability, and performance of Tier-1 systems.
• Collaborate with product and engineering teams; participate in code reviews.
