Job summary

Vesta. We’re building an AI-powered mortgage origination platform with a remote-first culture and a Bay Area hub. You’ll join as a backend engineer focusing on scalable, reliable systems and collaboration with product and frontend teams.

You’ll own backend features end-to-end, work with distributed architectures, and apply modern AI tooling to development workflows. Expect some after-hours moments in early-stage startup life and occasional travel within the United States.

Qualifications

• Experience building production-grade distributed systems that scale.
• Strong backend focus; deep systems and backend expertise required.
• Proficiency with at least one typed backend language (C#, Java, Kotlin, Go).
• Relational DB experience, preferably PostgreSQL, with design and tuning.
• Cloud-based production experience, e.g., AWS, with Kafka/Redis tech.

Responsibilities

• Own backend and systems aspects from design through production and scale.
• Collaborate with product and engineering to build scalable features.
• Design, build, and operate backend services for customer-facing features.
• Ensure performance, reliability, and maintainability of systems.
