Job summary

Sift is hiring a Software Engineer, Backend (Agentic AI) to develop backend systems for Sift Agents that investigate telemetry anomalies and answer questions on test data. You will design APIs, tool interfaces, and distributed infrastructure in hybrid California-based environment.

The role focuses on production-grade agent capabilities, context management, and integration with frontier models, with a mix of customer-facing collaboration and hands-on system development.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of professional software engineering experience.
• APIs (REST, gRPC) experience and complex backend services.
• Experience with distributed systems fundamentals.
• Interest in new AI products and evaluating frontier models.

Responsibilities

• Talk directly to customers and partners to turn workflows into agent capabilities.
• Design, ship, and operate agentic systems and APIs for telemetry analysis.
• Build and maintain MCP server and tool surface for agents and customers.
