Job summary

Verdantas is hiring a Backend Developer to design, build, and maintain server-side systems powering critical applications. You’ll work on REST APIs, data validation with Pydantic, and database access via SQLAlchemy in Python, with PostgreSQL schemas, deployments in Docker/OpenShift, and Kubernetes orchestration.

You will collaborate with product owners, operations, and security teams, review code, write tests, and mentor junior developers. A hybrid on-site schedule is expected.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree may be substituted for 4 years of experience or a master’s for 6 years.
• 9+ years of software or systems engineering experience.
• Active TS/SCI clearance with CI polygraph.
• Strong experience building backend services and REST APIs.
• Experience with Python backend development and PostgreSQL.
• Familiarity with OpenSearch data structures and queries.
• Docker experience including building images and troubleshooting containers.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain backend functionality within applications using Python, Docker, Kubernetes, OpenSearch and PostgreSQL.

This role is central to our engineering infrastructure, responsible for designing, building, and maintaining the server-side systems that power our mission-critical applications. The ideal candidate brings deep technical expertise, a collaborative mindset, and a proven ability to operate within classified environments.
