Job summary

Verdantas is hiring a security-cleared Backend Developer to design, build, and maintain server-side systems powering critical applications. The role requires deep technical expertise, collaboration, and a track record in classified environments.

This is a hybrid position with on-site presence 2-3 days per week. You will work with Python, Docker, Kubernetes, OpenSearch, and PostgreSQL, delivering robust backend services, REST APIs, and secure data management while mentoring peers and coordinating

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree may be substituted for 4 years of experience
• Master’s degree may be substituted for 6 years of experience
• 9+ years of experience in software/systems engineering or related field
• TS/SCI Clearance with Active CI Polygraph
• Strong experience building backend services and REST APIs
• Proficiency with Python and PostgreSQL
• Experience with Docker, Kubernetes, and OpenShift
• Familiarity with Linux environments and Agile development

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain backend functionality using Python, Docker, Kubernetes, OpenSearch and PostgreSQL
• Develop and maintain backend services and REST APIs with validation, error handling, and auth integration
• Use Pydantic for data validation and SQLAlchemy for ORM and DB access
• Design and maintain PostgreSQL schemas, queries, indexes, migrations for performance/data integrity
• Build and manage Docker images; deploy on OpenShift
• Investigate and resolve production issues across UI, backend, DB and deployment
• Collaborate with customers, product owners, and stakeholders to clarify requirements and estimate effort
• Participate in technical design/code reviews, write automated tests, maintain docs
• Mentor developers and collaborate with operations and security teams
