Job summary

iCapital is seeking a Backend Software Engineer at Assistant Vice President level to design, build, and operate services powering the iCapital platform.

You will collaborate with engineers, product managers, and partners across the development lifecycle. The stack primarily uses Scala, Ruby, and Python, with emphasis on strong engineering fundamentals and the ability to learn new technologies. Office in Salt Lake City with hybrid work.

Qualifications

• 6+ years of experience with at least one modern language (Ruby, Scala, Python, Java, or TypeScript).
• 4+ years building or integrating APIs and backend services.
• Knowledge of relational or NoSQL databases and data modeling.
• Familiarity with automated testing, version control, and modern delivery practices.
• Understanding of cloud application development and distributed systems.
• Strong problem-solving, collaboration, and communication skills.
• Experience using AI-assisted development tools to plan work and validate implementations.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, test, deploy, and maintain cloud-based services and APIs.
• Translate product and business needs into practical technical solutions.
• Own projects from design through production rollout and ongoing support.
• Write maintainable code and contribute to technical design decisions.
• Participate in code reviews and improve engineering standards.
• Build testing, observability, security, and operational readiness into services.
• Use AI-assisted development tools responsibly to improve delivery, investigation, and learning.
