Job summary

Good co India is seeking an accomplished Backend Architect to design and lead the architecture of scalable, secure, high‑performance backend systems in the United States. You will translate business requirements into robust technical specifications and drive modern backend practices across distributed services.

You will own API design, data models for SQL/NoSQL databases, event‑driven patterns, and cloud deployments on AWS/Azure/GCP, while mentoring engineers and aligning with stakeholders.

Qualifications

• 5–10 years of professional backend, software engineering, and system-architecture experience.
• Strong hands-on experience with one or more backend languages (Java, Python, Go, C#, Node.js).
• Expertise in Spring Boot, ASP.NET Core, Django, FastAPI, or NestJS.
• Proven ability to design scalable distributed systems and microservices.
• Solid understanding of data structures, algorithms, design patterns, SOLID, and DDD.
• Experience with RESTful APIs, GraphQL, and enterprise integrations.

Role & responsibilities

• Design and lead the architecture of scalable, secure, reliable, and high-performance backend systems.
• Translate business and technical requirements into robust backend architecture and technical specifications.
• Design and develop backend services, microservices, RESTful APIs, and distributed applications.
• Define architecture standards, coding guidelines, design patterns, and backend engineering best practices.
• Develop scalable database architectures, data models, and data-access strategies for SQL and NoSQL databases.
• Design event-driven systems and asynchronous processing solutions using messaging technologies such as Kafka and RabbitMQ.
• Lead cloud-native backend development and deployment across AWS, Azure, or GCP.
• Ensure backend systems meet performance, scalability, availability, security, and reliability requirements.
• Identify and resolve complex technical challenges related to system performance, concurrency, data consistency, and scalability.
• Conduct architecture reviews, code reviews, and technical design assessments.
• Establish API standards, versioning strategies, authentication, authorization, and integration patterns.
• Drive the adoption of CI/CD, automated testing, containerization, and DevOps practices.
• Implement monitoring, logging, tracing, and observability to improve system reliability.
• Collaborate with frontend, mobile, DevOps, QA, security, product, and infrastructure teams.
• Lead application modernization, legacy-system migration, and backend performance optimization initiatives.

Preferred candidate profile

• 5 to 10 years of professional experience in backend development, software engineering, and system architecture.
• Strong hands-on experience with one or more backend programming languages, such as Java, Python, Go, C#, or Node.js.
• Expertise in backend frameworks such as Spring Boot, ASP.NET Core, Django, FastAPI, or NestJS.
• Proven experience designing scalable, distributed systems, microservices, and high-throughput backend applications.
• Strong understanding of system design, data structures, algorithms, design patterns, SOLID principles, and domain-driven design.
• Experience designing and developing RESTful APIs, GraphQL services, and enterprise application integrations.
• Strong knowledge of relational and NoSQL databases, including database design, indexing, query optimization, and transaction management.
• Experience with caching solutions such as Redis and messaging platforms such as Kafka, RabbitMQ, or cloud-based messaging services.
• Hands-on experience with AWS, Azure, or GCP and cloud-native backend architectures.
• Proficiency in Docker, Kubernetes, CI/CD pipelines, Git, and infrastructure automation.
• Strong understanding of application security, encryption, OAuth 2.0, JWT, access control, and secure coding practices.
• Experience with performance tuning, load balancing, fault tolerance, high availability, and disaster recovery.
• Familiarity with monitoring and observability tools such as Prometheus, Grafana, ELK Stack, or OpenTelemetry.
• Experience leading technical initiatives, conducting architecture reviews, and mentoring engineering teams.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, and stakeholder-management skills.
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Software Engineering, or a related discipline; a Master's degree is an added advantage.
• Relevant cloud, backend development, or software architecture certifications are preferred.
