Job summary

MBC GROUP is seeking an experienced Backend Engineer to design, build, and scale backend services using Node.js and TypeScript. You will work across microservices, databases, and cloud infrastructure to deliver reliable APIs for web and mobile applications.

You will collaborate with frontend, DevOps, and product teams, implement security best practices, and write thorough tests. A strong command of RESTful APIs, GraphQL, databases, and containerization is essential.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of backend development experience with Node.js and TypeScript/JavaScript.
• Strong expertise in RESTful APIs, GraphQL, and microservices.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain scalable backend services.
• Contribute to system architecture and microservices design.
• Develop RESTful and GraphQL APIs for web and mobile apps.
• Work with relational and NoSQL databases (PostgreSQL, MySQL, MongoDB, Redis).
• Deploy and manage services on cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, Azure) and containers (Docker, Kubernetes).
• Identify and resolve bottlenecks for low latency and high throughput.
• Implement authentication, authorization (OAuth, JWT), and security best practices.
• Write unit, integration, and end-to-end tests (Jest, Mocha, Chai).
• Establish observability with Prometheus, Grafana, ELK, Datadog.
• Collaborate with frontend, DevOps, and product teams; mentor juniors.
• Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines for automated deployments.

Responsibilities

• Backend Development: Design, develop, and maintain scalable and high-performance backend services using Node.js, TypeScript (or JavaScript), and Express.js/NestJS/Koa
• System Architecture: Contribute to system design, database modeling, and microservices architecture to support high-availability applications.
• API Development: Develop RESTful APIs and GraphQL APIs for web and mobile applications, ensuring security, scalability, and efficiency.
• Database Management: Work with relational (PostgreSQL, MySQL) and NoSQL databases (MongoDB, Redis) for efficient data storage and retrieval.
• Cloud & Infrastructure: Deploy and manage services using cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, Azure) and containerized solutions (Docker, Kubernetes).
• Performance Optimization: Identify and resolve bottlenecks in backend applications, ensuring low latency and high throughput.
• Security & Compliance: Implement authentication, authorization (OAuth, JWT), data encryption, and security best practices.
• Testing & Quality Assurance: Write unit, integration, and end-to-end tests using frameworks like Jest, Mocha, Chai to maintain code quality.
• Monitoring & Logging: Implement observability tools (Prometheus, Grafana, ELK, Datadog) for error tracking, logging, and performance monitoring.
• Collaboration & Mentorship: Work closely with frontend, DevOps, and product teams while mentoring junior engineers.
• CI/CD & Automation: Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines for automated deployments using GitHub Actions, GitLab CI/CD, Jenkins, or CircleCI.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience in backend development with Node.js and TypeScript/JavaScript.

Required Skills

• Strong expertise in RESTful API design, GraphQL, and microservices architecture.
• Experience with SQL and NoSQL databases (e.g., PostgreSQL, MySQL, MongoDB, Redis).
• Hands-on experience with cloud services (AWS/GCP/Azure) and containerized applications (Docker, Kubernetes).
• Strong knowledge of authentication & authorization (OAuth, JWT, SSO).
• Experience with testing frameworks (Jest, Mocha, Chai) and test-driven development (TDD).
• Familiarity with caching strategies (Redis, CDN) for optimized performance.
• Experience with event-driven architectures (Kafka, RabbitMQ, AWS SQS).
• Deep understanding of scalability, performance tuning, and security best practices.
• Strong debugging and problem-solving skills.
