Job summary

Assembly Technologies Inc. seeks a hands-on lead to supervise back-end electronics production, including hand soldering, depanelization, mechanical assembly, conformal coating, and final QC.

You will mentor operators, troubleshoot issues, and uphold safety and quality on the shop floor. You will coordinate daily work, balance staffing, monitor progress, and communicate constraints to production leadership to meet schedules and customer commitments.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required; Associate degree in Manufacturing, Engineering, or related field preferred
  • 3+ years experience in electronics manufacturing
  • 1+ years experience in a lead, trainer, senior operator, technician, or similar leadership role preferred
  • Strong understanding of PCBA manufacturing processes including hand soldering, inspection, electrical test, mechanical assembly, and conformal coating
  • Working knowledge of IPC-A-610 and J-STD-001 standards
  • Ability to read and interpret work instructions, assembly drawings, bills of material, and manufacturing documentation
  • Experience identifying and resolving production and quality issues in a manufacturing environment
  • Strong organizational and communication skills
  • Ability to prioritize multiple tasks in a fast-paced production environment
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications
  • Experience using ERP/MRP systems preferred
  • Ability to train and motivate team members while maintaining a positive and professional work environment

Responsibilities

  • Lead daily activities for back-end production operations including Hand Solder, Depanelization, Mechanical Assembly, Conformal Coating, Conformal Coat QC, Final QC, Shipping, and Electrical Test support
  • Coordinate and prioritize work assignments to ensure production schedules, quality requirements, and customer commitments are achieved
  • Serve as the primary floor-level resource for production personnel, providing technical guidance, troubleshooting assistance, and work direction
  • Monitor department workloads and communicate staffing, material, equipment, or schedule constraints to the Production Supervisor
  • Assist in balancing labor resources across departments to maximize throughput and efficiency
  • Coordinate product flow between front-end and back-end operations to ensure production priorities and delivery commitments are achieved
  • Work closely with the Test Lead to prioritize production requirements, resolve workflow constraints, and ensure efficient movement of product through test operations
  • Verify products move through required inspection and quality checkpoints prior to shipment
  • Ensure proper execution of conformal coating processes, inspection requirements, and associated documentation
  • Support shipping activities by verifying packaging, labeling, and documentation requirements are completed accurately and on time
  • Train and mentor operators on workmanship standards, production procedures, quality requirements, and safety practices
  • Monitor compliance with IPC standards, customer requirements, work instructions, and company procedures
  • Identify quality concerns, process issues, and production bottlenecks; assist with root cause investigations and corrective actions
  • Support implementation of continuous improvement initiatives focused on quality, efficiency, safety, and waste reduction
  • Promote and maintain 5S, visual management, and organized work areas throughout assigned departments
  • Assist with new employee onboarding and cross-training initiatives
  • Track and communicate department status, production progress, and priority changes throughout the day
  • Escalate equipment issues, material shortages, and quality concerns to the appropriate departments
  • Lead by example in professionalism, attendance, safety, quality, and teamwork
  • Perform hands-on production activities as required to support business needs

SCHEDULE

Normal work schedule is Monday through Thursday from 7am until 5:30pm with lunch and breaks. Some overtime may be required as needed.
