Job summary

X-Team is seeking a senior backend engineer for a contractor role focused on building and operating complex integrations with construction ERPs, Microsoft and Google ecosystems, and identity systems. You will own end-to-end integration design, data mapping, and resilient, queue-driven processing using Node.js and TypeScript.

You will work directly with customers and partners, applying an AI-assisted workflow to move faster while upholding high-quality standards.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of professional software engineering with strong backend ownership.
• Designed and owned complex third-party integrations beyond standard SaaS APIs.
• Experience with OAuth 2.0/OpenID Connect, REST APIs, webhooks, and token lifecycle management.

Responsibilities

Job description

This is a contractor role through X-Team open to candidates based in Latam. You'll design, build, and run integrations with construction ERPs, Microsoft and Google ecosystems, email and calendar providers, and enterprise identity systems. That means bidirectional sync, field mapping, queue-driven processing, and recovery from partial failures, all in Node.js and TypeScript. You'll also work directly with customers and external partners, and use AI-assisted engineering to move faster without lowering the bar on quality.

Most Important:

• 7+ years of professional software engineering, with significant backend experience and true senior-level ownership
• Complex third-party integrations you personally designed and owned in production, beyond standard, well-documented SaaS APIs
• OAuth 2.0 / OpenID Connect, REST APIs, webhooks, and token lifecycle management
• Message queues and event-driven systems such as AWS SQS, including retries, dead-letter queues, and backpressure
• PostgreSQL or a similar relational database, and ORMs such as TypeORM
• AWS or a comparable cloud platform, and Docker
• Strong system design for resilient distributed systems, data synchronization, and unreliable third-party APIs
• Strong OOP/SOLID fundamentals, testing, debugging, and code review
• A disciplined AI-assisted workflow: specs, coding agents, structured planning through review, and validating AI-generated code
• Excellent spoken and written English, to work directly with customers

The Bonus Skills:

• Microsoft Graph and/or Google Workspace APIs
• Integrations with construction software, ERPs, CRMs, or accounting platforms
• Experience building internal AI engineering standards, tooling, or workflows
• You bring structure to messy, inconsistent systems and make sound architectural decisions on your own.
• You design for retries, rate limits, and partial failure from the start, not after the first incident.
• You treat AI as a complement to strong engineering fundamentals, and you can explain where agents work well and where they fail.
• You communicate clearly and credibly with customers and technical partners.
• You own ambiguous problems from requirements through production and ongoing operation.
