Job summary

Spago Beverly Hills, flagship of the Wolfgang Puck Fine Dining Group, seeks a Back Busser (Polisher & Barista) to polish glassware, support the front-of-house team, and maintain clean work areas. This role also prepares specialty coffee and tea beverages and contributes to service flow.

The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, efficient, and committed to excellence, with availability for evenings, weekends, and holidays. Pay is $16.90/hour plus tips.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• 1+ years experience as a busser or back-of-house support.
• Barista or coffee preparation experience preferred.
• Knowledge of dining room procedures and fine-dining service standards.

Responsibilities

• Polish glassware, silverware, china to fine-dining standards.
• Maintain polished items are spotless and properly stored.
• Handle delicate glassware and service pieces with care.
• Assist servers by replenishing polished wares during service.
• Maintain cleanliness and organization of polishing stations, scullery, and linen room.
• Prepare and serve specialty coffee and tea beverages.
• Restock coffee supplies and equipment as needed.
• Support servers with beverage service during high-volume periods.
• Maintain restrooms and assist with station setup/breakdown.
• Retrieve, polish, and store china, glassware, silver, and other items from stewarding.

Job Summary

The Back Busser (Polisher & Barista) supports the Front-of-House team by polishing glassware, silverware, and service pieces to fine-dining standards; maintaining pristine work areas; and ensuring stations including scullery, linen room, and barista station remain organized and fully stocked. This role also prepares specialty coffee and tea beverages and contributes to the overall flow of service. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, efficient, and committed to excellence in every task.

Essential Job Functions Polishing & Service Support

• Clean and polish all glassware, silverware, china, and specialty items to Spago’s fine-dining standards.
• Ensure polished items are spotless, streak-free, and properly stored in designated areas.
• Handle delicate glassware and service pieces with care and precision.
• Assist servers and bussers by replenishing polished wares throughout service.
• Maintain the cleanliness, setup, and organization of polishing stations, scullery areas, and the linen room.

Barista Responsibilities

• Prepare and serve a variety of specialty coffee and tea beverages according to established recipes.
• Maintain a clean, sanitary, and well-organized barista station at all times.
• Restock coffee supplies, syrups, tools, and equipment as needed.
• Support servers with beverage service, particularly during high-volume periods.

General Support & Operations

• Maintain restrooms (guest and staff) by ensuring cleanliness and stocking of soap, paper towels, and supplies throughout operating hours.
• Assist with service station setup, breakdown, ice refills, storage organization, and par-level restocking.
• Retrieve, polish, and store china, glassware, silver, and other items from stewarding.
• Support the flow of service by anticipating team needs and offering assistance.
• Perform additional job-related duties as assigned by management.

Education

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.

Preferred Experience

• 1+ years experience as a busser or back-of-house support in a high-volume or fine-dining environment.
• Barista or coffee preparation experience strongly preferred.
• Knowledge of dining room procedures and fine-dining service standards.

Additional Requirements

• Self-motivated, with excellent attention to detail and pride in work quality.
• Ability to stand for extended periods and work in a fast-paced, high-volume environment.
• Must be available to work evenings, weekends, and holidays.

Physical Requirements & Work Conditions

• Frequent standing, bending, lifting (up to 25 lbs regularly; up to 40 lbs occasionally).
• Work split between dining room, barista station, kitchen, and service areas.
• Exposure to heat, steam, cleaning chemicals, and typical restaurant equipment.
• Noise levels may vary from moderate to loud depending on service period.
