Job summary

The Acharya lab at Seattle Children's Research Institute is hiring a scientist to join a rapidly expanding research program on understanding signaling mechanisms regulating immune responses. Research in our group focuses on antibody responses to viruses and how they become dysregulated in autoimmunity.

The role involves performing flow cytometry, ELISA, Western blot, tissue culture, and immunizing mice, with data analysis, group presentations, and collaboration with other scientists to publish

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in an engineering or scientific discipline; Master’s degree may be required for certain lab specialties.
• Minimum of two years’ experience in a related area/laboratory setting.
• Preferred: experience in biochemistry, molecular biology, and tissue culture techniques.
• Significant experience conducting research in area of specialization; some lab management experience is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Design experiments to perform flow cytometry and western blot.
• Design experiments to study activation of signaling proteins in B cells.
• Perform ELISA on murine serum to study antibody response.
• Assist with genotyping and management of mouse colony.
• Immunize mice with different viral antigens.
• Perform experiments on tissues harvested from mice.
• Analyze data and present data at group meetings.
• Contribute to writing for publication of results; generate figures for papers and grants.
