Job summary

Piper Companies is seeking an Azure Security Engineer to support and enhance a cloud-first security program for a leading organization in the technology and services industry. The Azure Security Engineer will play a key role in securing enterprise Azure environments, implementing security controls, and driving compliance initiatives while partnering with infrastructure, cloud, and application teams.

Qualifications

• 4+ years of information security experience with at least 2 years focused on Azure cloud security.
• Strong experience with Microsoft Azure security services (Defender for Cloud, Sentinel, Policy, Key Vault).
• Knowledge of IAM, Zero Trust, and cloud governance frameworks.
• Experience securing and managing cloud workloads including containers/serverless.

Responsibilities

• Design, implement, and maintain security controls across Azure cloud environments.
• Monitor, investigate, and respond to security incidents using Microsoft Sentinel/Defender.
• Conduct risk assessments, vulnerability management, and remediation activities.
• Develop and enforce cloud security policies, standards, and best practices.
• Collaborate with engineering/operations to secure cloud workloads and infrastructure.
• Implement IAM solutions using Azure AD and Privileged Identity Management (PIM).
• Support regulatory frameworks such as NIST, ISO 27001, SOC 2, CIS benchmarks.
• Automate security processes and reporting via scripting and Infrastructure as Code.
