Job summary

Goodwill Central Texas is seeking an Infrastructure Engineer to design, deploy, and automate our on-premises and cloud infrastructure from Austin, TX. You will ensure reliable, secure, and scalable server, storage, and network solutions while collaborating with internal teams and vendors.

The role emphasizes automation, patching, vulnerability remediation, and ongoing modernization. Strong Windows Server and Azure experience, plus after-hours flexibility, are key.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in IT, CS, or related field, or equivalent experience.
• 5+ years of experience in infrastructure, systems engineering, or related roles.
• Strong experience managing Windows Server environments and virtualization.
• Hands-on experience with Microsoft Azure cloud services and administration.
• Basic knowledge of LAN, WAN, VPN, and firewall concepts, with hands-on troubleshooting.
• Experience with patch management tools and vulnerability remediation processes.
• Experience with third-party vendors and service providers.
• Strong troubleshooting, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent written and verbal communication; able to work with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
• Availability to support after-hours maintenance or incident response.
• Familiarity with security frameworks and compliance.
• Experience with monitoring and alerting platforms.

Responsibilities

• Deploy, configure, and maintain physical and virtual servers, storage platforms, and core infrastructure systems.
• Administer and manage cloud services, with a primary focus on Microsoft Azure, including compute, storage, networking, identity, and security services.
• Design, implement, and maintain network solutions to support on-premises and cloud environments, ensuring performance, availability, and security.
• Manage server, infrastructure, and device patching processes to ensure systems remain secure and compliant.
• Identify, prioritize, and perform vulnerability remediation across infrastructure and cloud environments.
• Implement and maintain infrastructure automation using scripting, IaC, and configuration management tools.
• Monitor infrastructure health, performance, and capacity, proactively identifying and resolving issues.
• Collaborate with internal IT teams to support application deployments, integrations, and system upgrades.
• Serve as a technical liaison with third-party vendors, MSPs, and cloud partners.
• Participate in infrastructure planning, lifecycle management, and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Develop and maintain technical documentation, diagrams, standards, and operational procedures.
• Assist with disaster recovery planning, backup strategies, and business continuity testing.
• Provide escalation support for complex infrastructure and network issues.
• Stay current with emerging technologies, security practices, and industry trends.
• Other duties as assigned.
