Job summary

IREN is seeking an Azure DevOps Lead Engineer to own the Azure platform, governance and DevOps standards for our multi-country operations. This role is hands-on and strategic, mentoring engineers while delivering secure, compliant infrastructure at scale across data centers and cloud environments.

The successful candidate will drive architecture decisions, partner with Cybersecurity and Compliance, and ensure pipelines produce audit-ready evidence.

Qualifications

• 7+ years in DevOps, platform or cloud engineering.
• Experience designing and operating Microsoft Azure at enterprise scale.
• Leading engineers and owning technical delivery.
• IaC and CI/CD design with reusable modules and pipelines.
• Entra ID, Azure networking, policy, security services knowledge.
• Scripting in PowerShell and Python, using Microsoft Graph APIs.
• Proven work in regulated environments with SOX/ISO 27001 audit evidence.
• Strong communication across engineers and executives in multiple time zones.
• Azure certifications (AZ-400/305/500) are highly regarded; Terraform Associate is a plus.
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, IT or related field.

Responsibilities

• Define and own the Azure/M365 platform architecture, Landing Zone, governance and DevOps standards.
• Mentor and develop DevOps engineers in Azure best practices and code reviews.
• Enforce infrastructure-as-code standards, module libraries, branching and release patterns.
• Own platform reliability: SLOs, monitoring and incident management.
• Design identity, network and policy controls with Cybersecurity and IT.
• Lead security-by-design and compliance automation for SOX/ISO 27001.
• Drive platform roadmap, evaluate new Azure services and automation tools.
• Serve as senior escalation for complex incidents and post-incident reviews.
• Manage relationships with Microsoft and key vendors; handle licensing and reviews.
• Communicate status and risks clearly to IT leadership and stakeholders.
