Job summary

UW Information Technology in Seattle seeks an Azure Cloud & Server Support Engineer to own daily Windows server operations, focusing on reliability and performance on the WMS team. You will troubleshoot tier-2 infrastructure issues and support Azure migration initiatives as part of UW's cloud-first strategy.

The role emphasizes collaboration with senior engineers and cross-team stakeholders, with a hybrid work setup and on-site requirements two days per week.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in computer science, technology or related field, or equivalent experience.
• Three years of experience as an engineer supporting enterprise Windows server environments.
• Hands-on experience with Microsoft Azure, including VM management, networking, storage, identity basics.
• Ability to troubleshoot and resolve standard infrastructure issues independently.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills; technical documentation skills.
• Familiarity with automation tools and infrastructure as code (PowerShell, Terraform, Bicep).
• Demonstrated ability to learn quickly and apply new technologies, methodologies, tools, etc.

Responsibilities

• Own day-to-day cloud and server operations on the Windows Managed Server team.
• Troubleshoot and resolve routine to moderately complex infrastructure issues.
• Support Azure migration and modernization initiatives as part of AMP.
• Contribute to automation and continuous improvement efforts.
• Collaborate with customers and internal teams to ensure service reliability.
