Job summary

Maverick Payments is seeking a Security Engineer to design, implement, and maintain security controls across cloud, identity, and endpoints. You will collaborate with IT, Compliance, Infrastructure, DevOps, and business teams to strengthen Maverick's security posture.

The role emphasizes PCI DSS and SOC 2 Type II compliance, Azure cloud security, vulnerability management, incident response, threat detection, and secure AI adoption. Bring strong scripting and automation mindset.

Qualifications

• Bachelor-level cybersecurity/IT degree or equivalent experience.
• 5+ years of progressive information security experience.
• Hands-on security engineering in regulated environments (PCI DSS, SOC 2).
• Experience with Azure cloud security, identity management, and monitoring.
• Familiarity with Defender Suite, Sentinel, Entra ID, and EDR tools.
• Strong scripting skills (PowerShell, Python) for automation.

Responsibilities

• Design, implement, and maintain security controls across cloud, endpoints, and identities.
• Support PCI DSS and SOC 2 Type II compliance through monitoring and threat detection.
• Configure Microsoft Defender for Cloud, Defender XDR, and Sentinel.
• Develop security baselines, hardening standards, and configuration mgmt processes.
• Perform vulnerability assessments and coordinate remediation across environments.
• Collaborate with IT, DevOps, and security teams to ensure secure solutions.
• Assist with Zero Trust architecture and access governance activities.
• Lead security reviews of systems and architectures and document controls.
• Contribute to AI security initiatives and secure adoption of AI platforms.
