Job summary

Maverick Payments, based in Calabasas, CA, is seeking a Security Engineer to design, implement, and maintain security controls across cloud, infrastructure, and applications. You will help strengthen our security posture, align with PCI DSS and SOC 2 Type II, and partner with IT, DevOps, and business teams.

The role requires 5+ years in information security, hands-on security engineering, and deep knowledge of Azure security and Microsoft Defender tools.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Cybersecurity, IT, CS or related field; or equivalent education/experience.
• 5+ years of progressive information security experience.
• Minimum 3 years of hands-on security engineering experience.
• Experience supporting PCI DSS, SOC 2, or other regulated environments.
• Experience with Azure cloud security technologies and security monitoring platforms.
• Strong knowledge of Azure security architecture and Microsoft security technologies.
• Proficiency with PowerShell, Python, or similar scripting languages.

Responsibilities

• Design, implement, maintain, and enhance security controls across cloud, infrastructure, endpoints, identity, and security operations.
• Support PCI DSS and SOC 2 compliance efforts through security monitoring, vulnerability management, and incident response.
• Configure and manage Defender, Sentinel, Entra ID, and related security tools.
• Develop security baselines, hardening standards, and configuration management processes.
• Collaborate with IT, DevOps, and stakeholders to integrate security into technology solutions.
