Job summary

Maverick Payments is seeking a Security Engineer to design, implement, and maintain security controls across cloud and on-premise environments. You will partner with IT, DevOps, and business teams to strengthen the company’s security posture.

The role requires hands-on security engineering experience, Azure security expertise, and knowledge of PCI DSS and SOC 2. Remote-friendly with onsite options in key offices; competitive compensation is offered.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Cybersecurity, IT, CS or related field or equivalent experience.
• 5+ years of progressive information security experience.
• Minimum 3 years hands-on security engineering experience.
• Experience with PCI DSS, SOC 2, or regulated environments.
• Experience with Azure cloud security technologies and monitoring platforms.
• Proficiency with PowerShell or Python.

Responsibilities

• Design, implement, and maintain security controls across Azure cloud environments.
• Configure Defender, Sentinel, and related security tools.
• Monitor security posture and coordinate remediation efforts.
• Collaborate with IT, DevOps, and business teams to embed security requirements.
• Develop automation for security operations and AI-enabled platforms.
• Support PCI DSS and SOC 2 compliance initiatives.
• Coordinate penetration testing and remediation activities.
