Job summary

Steptoe LLP, a Washington, DC-based Am Law 100 law firm, seeks an Enterprise Cloud & Systems Engineer to design, build, and operate Azure-based enterprise cloud and hybrid infrastructure. The role emphasizes hands-on engineering for cloud foundations, identity services, automation, and secure, scalable IT platforms supporting firm-wide apps and data.

Responsibilities include deploying Azure resources, managing networking and storage, building landing zones, and implementing CI/CD pipelines.

Qualifications

• 3–5 years of hands-on cloud, platform, or infrastructure engineering experience.
• Strong experience with Microsoft Azure services and hybrid cloud environments.
• Windows Server and Active Directory administration experience.
• Hands-on IaC using Terraform and/or Bicep.
• Experience building CI/CD pipelines with Azure DevOps or GitHub.

Responsibilities

• Design, deploy, and operate Azure infrastructure (IaaS/PaaS).
• Build and maintain Azure landing zones, governance and subscription structures.
• Manage hybrid connectivity between on-premises and Azure.
• Administer AD and Azure AD (Entra ID) including AAD sync and access controls.
• Design Azure networking components and NSGs.
• Develop IaC to provision resources across environments.
• Build CI/CD pipelines using Azure DevOps or GitHub.
• Monitor, log, alert, and secure cloud platforms.
• Support incident response and root cause analyses.
