Job summary

Mutual of Omaha is seeking an AWS Software Platform Engineer to advance the Common Technology Platform (CTP) by driving AWS CDK, TypeScript, and automation across enterprise cloud services. The role focuses on modernizing AWS solutions, improving developer experience, and enabling secure, scalable infrastructure.

The position offers remote work with periodic in-person planning and training sessions, and requires 5+ years in TypeScript and 2+ years in AWS CDK v2.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of software development experience with a heavy emphasis on TypeScript.
• 2+ years of hands-on AWS CDK v2 in TypeScript, writing custom L3 constructs.
• Strong IaC experience including CDK aspects, cross-stack references, and deployment barriers.
• Experience implementing automated testing for CDK infrastructure and integrating CDK into CI/CD pipelines.
• Operational engineering background with cloud governance or security compliance (CDK - nag).

Responsibilities

• Design and automate infrastructure using AWS CDK, TypeScript, and APIs (IaC).
• Collaborate with teams to improve developer experience with self-service tools.
• Drive automation, self-healing capabilities, and reusable components for scale.
• Lead lifecycle automation for distributed cloud platforms (configuration, deployment, monitoring).
• Build and optimize secure cloud networks (load balancers, firewalls, VPN) to ensure resilience.
