Job summary

Mission Technologies, a division of HII, is seeking an AWS DevOps Engineer with hands‑on experience in secure cloud environments, including AWS GovCloud. The ideal candidate will automate, containerize, and build highly secure, scalable cloud infrastructure aligned with DoD requirements.

Active DoD clearance and Security+ or equivalent certification are required. Candidates must reside in the Washington, DC area with frequent travel to Andrews Air Force Base.

Qualifications

• 5 years relevant experience with Bachelors in related field; 3 years relevant experience with Masters in related field; 0 years experience with PhD or Juris Doctorate in related field; or High School Diploma or equivalent and 9 years relevant experience.
• Practical experience with AWS GovCloud.
• Security+ or equivalent certification (CCNA Security, GSEC, CASP+, etc.).
• Proficiency with AWS CDK and containerization using Docker.
• Experience working with IronBank or similar hardened image repositories.
• Strong knowledge of RDS, Aurora, and core AWS database services.
• Solid understanding of Linux, IAM, VPC networking, and cloud security best practices.
• Experience operating production workloads using AWS-native monitoring and logging tools.
• Active DoD security clearance (Secret or above).

Responsibilities

• Architect, deploy, and maintain cloud infrastructure and services within AWS and AWS GovCloud.
• Build Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC) using AWS CDK, CloudFormation, or Terraform.
• Containerize applications using Docker and work with hardened images from IronBank.
• Develop and enhance CI/CD pipelines using AWS-native or enterprise DevOps tools such as CodePipeline, GitLab CI, or Jenkins.
• Configure, deploy, and manage AWS database services including RDS and Aurora.
• Apply secure‑by‑design principles and ensure all solutions meet compliance requirements.
• Manage monitoring, logging, alerting, and incident‑response workflows using AWS-native services.
• Collaborate across engineering, security, and operations teams to improve automation, reliability, and deployment processes.
• Support efforts across the full Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC).
