Job summary

Huntington Ingalls Industries (HII) Warfare Systems is seeking an AWS DevOps Engineer to build secure, scalable cloud infrastructure in AWS GovCloud and standard AWS environments. The role emphasizes automation, IaC, containerization, and robust CI/CD pipelines to support DoD-compliant missions.

Candidates must hold an active DoD clearance and Security+ or equivalent certification, with strong Linux, IAM, and network security knowledge. Washington DC area with travel to Andrews AFB is required.

Qualifications

Active DoD security clearance (Secret or above).
Experience with AWS GovCloud.
Security+ or equivalent certification (CCNA Security, GSEC, CASP+, etc.).
Proficiency with AWS CDK and containerization using Docker.
Experience with IronBank or similar hardened image repositories.
Strong knowledge of RDS, Aurora, and core AWS database services.
Linux, IAM, VPC networking, and cloud security best practices.
Experience operating production workloads using AWS-native monitoring and logging tools.

Responsibilities

Architect, deploy, and maintain cloud infrastructure and services within AWS and AWS GovCloud.
Build Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC) using CDK, CloudFormation, or Terraform.
Containerize applications with Docker and hardened images.
Develop and enhance CI/CD pipelines with CodePipeline, GitLab CI, or Jenkins.
Configure and manage AWS databases including RDS and Aurora.
Apply secure-by-design principles and ensure compliance requirements.
Manage monitoring, logging, alerting, and incident-response workflows.
Collaborate across engineering, security, and operations teams.
